About

Dr. Behere is a triple board certified (adult, children & adolescent, and addiction medicine) psychiatrist. He completed his residency and fellowship in Illinois and has more than 10 years of experience working with complex psychiatric patients including kids and adults.

He has vast experience in working with medically complex patients and specializes in psychiatric disorders including ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism and developmental disorders. Not only is he an accomplished and experienced clinician, but is also an active academician. He holds the rank of associate professor at Michigan State University. He actively teaches medical students, residents and fellows and has more than 30 original papers published in peer reviewed journals, authored more than 10 book chapters and edited a book on psychopharmacology.

He is especially passionate about working with younger kids and feels the earlier we can intervene, the sooner we can change their trajectory to have the most successful outcome. He feels therapeutic interventions can take many forms and medications can be one of them if clinically indicated but but it’s not required in every case. Hence, he closely works with other team members including, therapists, psychologists and other health professional to develop a tailored treatment plan for each patient. He recognizes that there are many facets to a successful treatment plan and firmly believes in a multi-pronged approach. He also believes that the success of any treatment modality relies heavily on a team based approach and appreciates that patients and their families are equal partners in this journey.

Dr. Behere is currently seeing patients within the premises of BRAINS, working closely with their team members but as an independent practitioner. He also offers the flexibility of seeing patients virtually.

Outside of work Dr. Behere enjoys traveling with his family, hiking and taking photographs of the night sky.
